At Impact Talks, we opened the topic of law and philanthropy
The last inspiring evening of Impact Talks this year belonged to the combination of law and philanthropy. For the first time, the guests were not philanthropists but partners of law firms. Lawyers are our natural allies when starting big philanthropic stories.
An interesting programme was prepared for the guests in the Slovak National Gallery. Lawsuits against public participation, which are abused to silence critics, were discussed by former Minister of Justice Lucia Žitňanská, lawyer cooperating with Via Iuris Eva Kováčechová and co-director of the international organisation PILnet Andrej Nosko.
Our colleague Eva Braxatorisová spoke about the pro bono assistance of lawyers from the end of the 19th and the beginning of the 20th centuries. And at the end, the event host Roman Juraško interviewed Vlastimil Pihera, a partner of the Kocián Šolc Balaštík office, who was in the Czech Republic at the birth of individual philanthropic projects worth over 140 million euros.
The event was part of the 4th edition of the European Pro Bono Week, which is being prepared by the international organisation PILnet together with its partners.
