We multiply help for Ukraine
We will contribute to ensuring that the Slovak demining device Božena 5 reaches Ukraine as soon as possible. The Pontis Foundation and the Open Society Foundation will provide a so-called matching gift to achieve this goal – we will double every euro added to the Božena collection account up to 100,000 euros. The donation is funded by the Taipei Representative Office in Slovakia.
“Helping our eastern neighbour is not only morally right and necessary, but also crucial for the interests of Slovakia. Providing funds for a device that helps increase the safety of people in liberated areas is a matter of course for us,” says Michal Kišša, the executive director of the Pontis Foundation.
Božena 5 is much needed by our neighbours as it is an effective demining machine designed for humanitarian demining. Working with this device is significantly faster and safer than if it were to be done by humans alone. Ukraine has a massive problem with mines across thousands of kilometres of its territory, which is one of the reasons for the slowdown of the counteroffensive.
The good news is that, thanks to this support, the chances are increasing that Božena will be sent to Ukraine this year and will be delivered to the fire brigade in the Kherson region.
