Mission and programme strategy
The Slovenské elektrárne Endowment Fund at the Pontis Foundation was established in 2011. It focuses primarily on supporting projects in the fields of social affairs, the environment protection and education. The fund finances projects in five key areas of support – energy efficiency of towns and villages, the integration of people without homes back into society, community activities of its employees and educating the employees’ children when families find themselves in unfavourable life situations, as well as the direct support of specific projects.
The goal of Slovenské elektrárne is to systematically address the issue of homelessness, help people without homes integrate back into society, ensure the energy efficiency of towns and villages in Slovakia, support gifted students as well as company’s employees in their public benefit activities.
The fund operates based on grant calls announced in individual fields of support through the portal www.darca.sk. Projects which apply for the grant calls are assessed by an expert committee composed of representatives of Slovenské elektrárne, the Pontis Foundation and experts in the given thematic fields. In the first six years of its existence, the endowment fund has supported projects in the total amount of more than 1.2 million euros. All the company’s social responsibility activities are covered by the Energy for the Country programme.
